Since its inception five years ago, Uniotel’s R&D Department has worked as an independent business unit, developing solutions for internal and external customers, especially in the fields of technology integration and development of software components, with a primary focus on telecommunications and IP networking areas.

Our portfolio includes project development, consultancy and operations-support on products and services such as
* Complex IP networking solutions
* IP networking infrasTructures including wireless networks, VPNs, and DSL variants.
* IP telephony: platform configuration, development, billing and softswitch partitioning
* PSTN termination, including GSM and CDMA mobile termination
* VoIP origination
* IP voice transit
* SIP, H323, IAX protocols
* Advanced Asterisk configuration and development

Our customers and business partners range from small companies to large corporations, including two Fortune 500 telcos, and are located all over the world, in places like the US, Argentina, Brazil, Czech Republic, Guatemala, Honduras, Paraguay and Peru.

We manage and operate several Points of Presence in different countries and locations, comprising tens of Cisco and Quintum gateways, Mera gatekeepers, PortaOne softswitches and about 40 Unix servers.

Our engineering team is integrated by about 15 people, including seasoned software, networking and telecom engineers together with highly talented younger ones.

Uniotel’s operations base is Uruguay. Despite being a small country, Uruguay is Latin America’s largest IT exporter. Its well educated workforce, its long tradition of political and economic stability and its low operative cost have made it a favorite destination for many IT companies, such as Tata Consulting Services to Sabre Holdings. Uniotel is part of Tizone, a large software and services cluster.
